Lovely at Center Stage Gallery and CTN X
There are a few special times every year when I feel like a complete and total crazy person - this week, known as "CTN-Expo Week" is one of those times. I wanted to make sure, though, with all of the prepping and craziness, that I took a moment to update this little space to let everyone know about all of the exciting things that make this week so crazy (in a good way!) So here goes!

Im so happy to say that the Lovely girls are getting together one more time to chat and open the first and only American version of the Gallerie Arludik show from this past June! All six of us will be in attendance on Thursday night, and we will partake in a roundtable discussion moderated by the one and only Mr. Mike Gabriel! I think this is the official opening of the CTN-Expo -lots of new original artwork and there will be shuttles running back and forth to the gallery from the convention hall all weekend. If you are in town, you should definitely stop by!

It is that time again! I will be set up very near to my usual spot (close to the front doors) at the CTN-Expo at the Burbank Marriott. In addition to my usual haul of prints and books, I will be debuting the first batch of 2015 Calendar Girls and Calendar Girl Refill packs! I will probably be bringing a limited number of Calendar Girls with me to the show each day, so try to swing by my table early if you are interested!
And for everyone who cant make it to LA but would still like a Calendar Girl - I have good news! We have a larger edition (of 200) this year, and will most likely be putting nearly half of them up in the shop before the holidays! Im thinking that thew will be going up in batches, but I will flesh out that plan and post more on it soon. For now, just know that they are coming!
I hope to see many friendly faces (both new and old) at the expo this weekend! If you plan to attend, I will apologize in advance for being at all "off". So far this week, forgetting what day it is, not knowing my current location, and losing my thoughts in the middle of a sentence have been alarmingly common occurrences, and while I will try to remedy that before Friday, just be warned.

Happy Friday yall! We got a big ole winter storm yesterday (what I hope is our last!) in Philly and though Im ready for winter to be over, the snow sure is pretty! I dont know if its still winter-like where you are, but if youre hunkered down for the weekend, Ive got some good reading and some pretty eye candy for you.

Ah, Ghent. My favorite place. As soon as B and I stepped off the train from Brussels, I felt like I was home. You know how there are some people or places you feel instantly bonded to? Thats how I was with this city. Im full of sighs just thinking about it. I wish I could jump through my computer screen and into these photos.
We were amazed by how old everything was in Ghent. So quaint, so charming, and definitely one of the coziest places Ive ever visited. Between the cobblestones and the waterways, I felt like I was walking around in a Pieter Bruegel painting. (One like this. Not one with a lot of death and fighting.) I believe I mentioned that our flat was built in the 1730s, no? Impressive, considering The United States wasnt really a "thing" until 1776. The house was technically older than our country. Thats pretty damn cool.
Speaking of old, check out this castle. Gravensteen was built in 1180 by Philip of Alsace on the site of an old wooden castle. It was abandoned in the 14th century then became a courthouse and a prison before it started to decay. Houses were built around it before it was set to be demolished a few hundred years ago. In 1885, the city bought the castle, took out the houses that were built using its walls and started to restore it. Its still surrounded on one side by the original moat. I would have loved to have seen what it looked like back then.
Ghent is full of incredible little restaurants. When we first settled in, we went to a cute little vegan restaurant called Greenway (get the thai curry!) then got drinks at a traditional little tavern called Brasserie Midi. It was super old school but nice and charming. (No wifi. A little heartbreaking at first but forced us to talk to each other.) We also ate some of the best pizza weve ever had at Eat Love Pizza. (Which is saying a lot because Im very Italian.) Some other places Id highly recommend checking out are Panache, and an amazing hot chocolate shop. I cant remember the name of it but if youre visiting Ghent, heres a Google street view shot of it. (I guess it was built after the photo was taken?)
One unexpected thing we loved about Ghent was the bell sound the trams made instead of honking. Something very small, I know, but it was great. I just spent 20 minutes looking for videos of it... but didnt have any luck.
Something we intended to check out but accidentally stumbled upon was "Graffitistraat." The street, Werregarenstraat, was designated as a legal place for graffiti back in the 1990s. Because artists are free to come and go as they please, its constantly changing. B and I made a little mark there. I like to think it hasnt been covered up yet.
Ghent is one of the most walkable places Ive traveled to. We walked a LOT, which is good because we also ate a lot. Its easy to get caught up in the beautiful buildings and not realize how far youve gone. Were the kind of people who dont mind getting "lost" though. Thats how you discover new things.
Isnt the juxtaposition of modern and medieval so lovely? Ghent is such a unique place with a great energy.
Oh, if youre in Belgium, you must try some fries. I was more excited for these than I was for Belgian waffles or chocolate. If you want an authentic experience, get them on the street. We got these bad boys at a cart called Fritter Jozef in the Vrijdagmarkt. The area is also great for shopping and people-watching.
I truly left a piece of my heart in Ghent. If I wasnt as close to my family and miss them like crazy, Id move there in a heartbeat. I still have some more photos to share from my trip to keep your eyes peeled.

Lovely Pink Room Escape Solution
Full walkthrough solution with step by step instructions and detailed explanations on how to escape form the lovely pink room!
You start in the pink lounge:
Pick up:Blue plastic ball, purple puzzle piece
Shake the curtains on the left. The butterfly will chase the cat on the carpet out of the room.
Take the yellow puzzle piece from the floor where the clock fell
Take the battery from the Christmas lights. There is also a blue puzzle piece hidden at the lights.
Take the red puzzle piece and blue plastic ball from the plant on the table
Move the carpet to get a light blue puzzle piece.
Take the green puzzle piece and the candle from the TV
Take the laser distance meter from the top left drawer.
Open the back of the meter and insert the battery.
Take the knife from the bottom left drawer.
Take the toy gun from the top right drawer. Load a blue ball into the gun. Load the other ball as well.
Zoom in on the cake on the table
Add the candle
Take the purple puzzle piece.
Use the laser distance meter on the door. (Hint: if it does not work on the door, try the area around it, e.g. the TV, light, etc). It will show 360
Open the bottom right drawer with the code 3-6-0
Take the cam coder.
Zoom in on the cam coder, open the side and take the CD out.
Zoom in on the laptop on the right.
Switch the printer and laptop on.
Open the CD tray and insert the CD.
Click the icons on the laptop and it will show a picture of a puzzle piece.
Click the print button
Take the puzzle-piece-print-out.
Zoom in on the print
Cut the puzzle piece out with the knife.
Take the puzzle piece.
Use the toy gun on the TV. Then shoot both balls.
The birds will fly away and release the note from the light.
Pick up the note.
Open the note and take the last puzzle piece!
Assemble the puzzle and you will see code 1044
Open the front door with the code 1044
And escape!
Well done on a great escape.
