Make Your own My little sandbox

Make Your own My little sandbox

Just the other day I was looking around the internet for some sensory ideas. With the change in seasons, I am anticipating those cold (very cold, were in Vermont!) winter days when we can only get outside for a few minutes at a time. Around here our hands are covered all winter so although we dig, build and play in snow, much of a sensorial touching and feeling experience is limited. Last winter we had our indoor sandbox which provided some much appreciated sensory play. While I havent gotten an indoor sandbox going yet, I did come across a great little idea in the meantime. Have you seen these before?
Its called a My Little Sandbox. There is a whole series of them (found on Amazon) and theyve got good reviews. I thought it looked like something my daughters would enjoy so I made up one for our home.

Our sand is pretty well mixed with dirt, leaves and sticks from a summer of outdoor play, so I opted for using rice in our Little Sandbox. I had this miniature farm from long ago that fit perfectly.

After observing my daughters play, the rice has worked out well and is easier to clean up (they are good about not misusing it and can sweep it up independently if needed.)

They have enjoyed using it and I like that it provides the sensory experience of the rice along with encouraging creativity and imagination.

Lucky Little Leprechauns

Lucky Little Leprechauns

So I have been searching and searching for my old post on my  St. Patricks Day Leprechauns.   But UMMM I cant find it.  Its so bizarre, I could have sworn I posted about these cute little guys.  I guess I  never did!

So let me show you my Lucky Little Leprechauns!

I remember my little ones really liked making these last year.

My little ones back then really had some great ideas on what they would do if they met a leprechaun.  Some would have loved to trap them, while others simply just want to catch rainbows with them. =)  I love their ideas.  I cant wait to do this with my sweet ones this year.

This bundle is full of fun writing printables and will get the students thinking and brainstorming!

Take a look at my fave printables from this pack

Labeling is something we go over at the beginning of the year.  I think this is a great way for reinforce those skills and have the little ones continue to practice on it.

This packet includes
-Stencils/directions/pictures
-Writing prompts/black and white/ full & half page/ primary & secondary
-ABC order
-Making words

I personally love St. Patricks Day.  I think its a fun day to celebrate and do crazy things with the color green.   Last year, I was able to use create this for my class.  I got this

I gave the pencils to all of my leprechauns for the day.  The girls got leprechaun headbands, while the boys got the sunglasses.  It was a great way to get them in the St. Pattys Day spirit.

Ive also been thinking about creating this for my kiddies this year.

I got this awesome idea from  My Lds Projects Blog.  It seems so easy and very festive.  Besides, who doesnt love skittles?

What do you do with your little ones on this super fun day!?
